Photos: Oregon students condemn statements made by Sen. Alex Titus at ASUO sen. meeting

Oregon students and members of multicultural groups on campus arrived in full force with handmade signs to protest statements made by ASUO senator Alex Titus on allegations of racism during the ASUO Senate meeting on Wednesday, April 9, 2014. The signs and protest were in reference to a conversation held between ASUO presidential candidate Thomas Tullis in March.

“Literally the same 10 people took $5,000 for a conference in Orlando, $4,000 for a conference in Colorado and $15k for an Asian diversity conference about why Asians shouldn’t be oversexualized,” Titus said in the recording. “That’s 20k in one night that those motherfuckers just took.”

The student groups initially arrived to the senate meeting to condemn the comments made by Sen. Titus but also urged change within the ASUO Senate for a broader sense of cultural diversity.

Photos: Oregon Lacrosse — Ducks crush Fresno State Bulldogs 18-3 in conference opener

The Oregon women’s lacrosse team (2-3) hosts the Fresno State Bulldogs (1-5) at Papé Field on Saturday, March 15 at 2 p.m. The Ducks were unable to pull off a win against the Connecticut Huskies on Friday, March 14, losing 10-8 at their home opener. Although the Ducks performed in the first half with high energy and physical play, they failed to carry the momentum through the second half with the UConn Huskies in control. The Bulldogs are struggling in conference play (0-3), and have lost five straight games since their first victory on Feb. 6 against Monmouth N.J. Oregon looks for redemption as they take on the Fresno State Bulldogs, who just came off of a 12-6 loss to the Colorado Buffs on March 8.

Next up for the Ducks is a home game against Presbyterian at Papé Field on Saturday, March 22 at 12 p.m.

The Ducks look for revenge after a 5-0 shutout by the Ohio State Buckeyes during the second game of the non-conference series on Saturday, March 8, and will close the series with game three at PK Park on Sunday, March 9 at 12 p.m. Over the first eight innings of game two, the Oregon pitchers held Ohio State to just one run on three hits. However, the Ducks couldn’t match Ohio State starter Ryan Riga, who had 10 strikeouts while only allowing just five hits. The Buckeyes then went on to open the top of ninth inning with four runs to grab a 5-0 shutout victory at PK Park.

Next up for the Ducks is a home game against USC on Friday, March 14 at PK Park in Eugene, Ore.
