This year over 600 girls received bids during the annual sorority Bid Day. New recruits gathered in the EMU to receive their own sealed envelope with the name of their new house. As tradition follows, the girls opened their envelopes just before dashing off the sorority houses to meet their new sisters.

University of Oregon President, Michael Gottfredson, joins Eugene community leaders in welcoming students and residential neighbors. Along with Eugene Mayor Kitty Piercy and President of the Associated Students of the University of Oregon Sam Dotters-Katz, Gottfredson traveled door to door in the West University neighborhood promoting courteous neighborly behavior and emphasizing the new Ordinance on Unruly Gatherings that was passed by the Eugene City Council in January 2013.
