Columbia Republicans endorse marriage equality

It looks like Columbia may replace Yale as the Gay Ivy. Earlier this week, the Columbia University College Democrats and the Columbia University College Republicans (CUCR) released a joint statement in support of marriage equality, according to the Columbia Spectator. “We, the College Democrats and College Republicans chapters of the Ivy League, endorse marriage equality and challenge our nation’s leaders to join us in defense of marriage equality for gay and lesbian couples,” the statement says. Over 75% of the CUCR board was in favor of the statement, which several members stated was a dynamic shift from the club’s position in past years. We think this is awesome, and we hope the Yale College Republicans will follow suit.

Downton Abbey comes to Yale

It’s Buzzfeed time. In honor of the Yale Center for British Art’s newest exhibit, “Edwardian Opulence: British Art at the Dawn of the 20th Century,” we decided to show you exactly how realistic Julian Fellowes is in his popular TV show, “Edwardian Opulence: British People at the Dawn of the 20th Century” aka “Downton Abbey.” But actually, you should check out this exhibit, which has things like a Cartier diamond tiara, someone’s ball gown, and the leftover pride of the British Empire.

The exhibition will be on display Feb. 28-June 2 at the Yale Center for British Art.
