The episodes for this week and the next will be very “Brandon”-focused. As you listen this week, you will learn that Brandon has a very turbulent past with sobriety. This is something that he has discussed briefly before, but in today’s episode, he tells his full story of struggle, determination and recovery.
One thing that we strive for on this show is transparency about mental health. It is important not to hold things in that could be harmful to yourself. This episode takes you from Brandon’s first interaction with alcohol after graduating high school, to his time in the army, to this very day.
It’s a very heavy episode, and Brandon discusses much that he has not said publicly before. So, just a heads up; there may be triggering material in this. The great thing about this podcast is that we are friends first, co-hosts second. So I am incredibly thankful that I have such an amazing co-host to help me walk you through my journey.
Today, at the time of this publishing, Brandon is 127 days sober, and he plans on keeping it that way. Remember homies: It’s okay to not be okay.
Thank you all for everything. See y’all next week.

It was a wild week and a bit frustrating, since a major event happened after Mark and Jair last recorded: James Harden was traded to the Brooklyn Nets. Mark and Jair discussed the trade and how the Nets made it towards the higher seeds in the Eastern Conference. Mark and Jair further discussed the NBA and which teams have surprised fans throughout the beginning of the regular season.
In Major League Baseball, the New York Mets have had their share of troubles, as their former General Manager has been fired for text messages he sent to a media member. On the business side, the Mets recently lost to the Toronto Blue Jays for the signing of George Springer. The duo described signings from the New York Yankees and D.J. LeMahieu.
In the National Football League, the Buffalo Bills recently defeated the Baltimore Ravens 17-3. They will be looking to play the Kansas City Chiefs, who recently defeated the Cleveland Browns 22-17 for the AFC spot in the Super Bowl.
On Saturday, Jan. 16 the Green Bay Packers defeated the Los Angeles Rams 32-18 and will host against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who recently defeated the New Orleans Saints 30-20. Both the Buccaneers and Packers will be looking to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.
Sunday: Jan. 24, 2021
● Buccaneers vs Packers: 3:05 p.m.

Hey homies! We’re back with another episode where we spill all of our uncalled for opinions — like seriously, who really wants our advice?
As you know, we are always here to provide you with that tea. That good stuff that just makes you keep coming back. Honestly, have we ever left you hanging? This week we bring content straight from Reddit, where we dissect the age-old question, “Am I the jerk?”
From questionable Number Twos to cucumber infatuations, we give you our insights on some serious, “real life” ethical dilemmas that no one asked for. But as with all great things, not everything was asked for. No one asked for a Spice Girls movie, no one asked for seven seasons of Pretty Little Liars and, most importantly, no one asked for our school to allow students back onto campus when COVID-19 rates are still rising.
But just because no one asked for it, doesn’t mean we’re not going to do it! We hope you all enjoy this episode, and don’t be afraid to share any of your thoughts or tea with us — we’re here for it!
As always, we stan each and every one of you, and we are stoked that you keep coming back every week, even when we don’t want to… JUST KIDDING. Stay dope fam!
Much love,
Brandon & Liz

In this first episode of Reel 2 Reel, I spoke with my old film camp friend, Matthew Kopsachilis, about anticipated movies. Our list at the time included Tenet, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, The Irishman. We discussed movies being pushed back due to the pandemic. A healthy amount of the conversation was devoted to our love for Adam Driver and Timothee Chalamet and the parallel career paths of Timothee Chalamet and Lucas Hedges. We discuss AMC possibly shutting down and what effect the then-incoming quarantine might have on movie theaters and streaming services — talk that was all theoretical at the time.

We are back and better than ever! We missed you so much while we were on break. Don’t believe us? We spent almost every day of winter break either recording, discussing, planning or editing this podcast. If that doesn’t show dedication to our loyal fans, I don’t know what does.
Today we bring you our very first episode of winter term: Back to the Future. You may be asking yourself, “But Brandon, why did you name it after a blockbuster film series of the late ’80s starring Michael J. Fox?” Well, that’s simple: Because everything that Marty Mcfly did while he was in the past affected his future. Wow. Now that’s deep.
In this episode, we talk about how our 2020 started, how we were feeling throughout and how it ended. Still not understanding? Everything that occurred during our time in 2020 will affect how we will take on 2021… and I promise you, it’s for the better.
While we do talk about our new year goals (which includes the highly improbable goal of Brandon’s High School Pop Punk band making it big), it would not be “Ain’t That Something” unless we tackled topics of our personal hardships and mental health. We love that. It’s our brand. Stay to the very end and you’ll hear a very interesting story about Liz’s struggle while working at a hometown restaurant.
We are so thankful for every last one of you. Thank you so much for joining us in 2020, and even bigger thanks for seeing us into 2021.
Let’s get it!
Brandon and Liz

This past week, Mark and Jair returned for another season of Mark and Jair Explain Sports.
The boys started off this week’s podcast by discussing what’s going on with Major League Baseball.
The recent addition of Francisco Lindor has stirred a lot of noise as to how serious the Mets are as contenders. Even the Padres’ recent additions of Blake Snell and Yu Darvish have been a hot topic.
The discussion switched gears to the NBA.
Mark’s Sixers have started the season off pretty well. The Los Angeles Lakers have performed similarly in the Western Conference, as has their shared-building rival, Los Angeles Clippers.
Afterward, attention was brought to the NFL. The discussion was big between this past weekend’s matchups and this upcoming weekend’s matchups.
Saturday: 1/16/21
Rams vs Packers: 4:35 PM
Ravens vs Bills: 8:15 PM
Sunday: 1/17/21
Browns vs Chiefs: 3:05 PM
Buccaneers vs Saints: 6:40 PM

A lot of questions are being asked regarding the NBA and NFL Season. Players are contracting COVID-19, so how will the seasons play out for both sports? Reports came on December 2nd about various numbers of NBA Players testing positive for COVID-19. Both Mark and Jair are very unsure about the start of the NBA Season. Could it be pushed back beyond December 22nd?
One of the biggest headlines that were released recently was the John Wall trade from the Washington Wizards to the Houston Rockets. Russell Westbrook was on the other side of the deal as he has been sent to the Wizards. Mark and Jair are excited to see John Wall with his former University of Kentucky co-star, Demarcus Cousins.
Another big headline was Lebron James signing an extension with the Los Angeles Lakers. People question if he signed the extension on a timely basis for when his son is eligible for the NBA Draft.
One of the highlights in recent sporting events is the recent fight between Jake Paul and Nate Robinson. Lots of people are happy to see Nate Robinson is alright after being knocked out by Jake. It was a brutal fight as it didn’t last too long.
In the NFL, Mark’s Philadelphia Eagles lost this past week to the Seattle Seahawks. The team is now in third place while the Washington Football Team and the New York Giants are tied in the first place. The Eagles will be getting ready to play the New Orleans Saints this upcoming week. It’ll be interesting to the matchup this upcoming Sunday.
Give it a listen!

It has been one heck of a term, to say the least. It has been filled with hardships, self-discovery, but most importantly, progress. In the end, progress is all that truly matters.
This will be our last episode of the season but don’t worry, we’ll be back in the winter! In this episode, we go straight for the heartstrings. How so? Well, we write letters to our exes and read them to you all. THE TEA! Brandon writes one to his ex-girlfriend while Liz writes one to an ex-girl-friend (platonic). Full disclosure, these letters are not damning in any way but rather an expression of what we learned from these relationships and how we have grown as individuals since then.
Tears were shed between the both of us and even our amazing editor, Maddie, said this was a heavy one. We are sorry if this episode makes you emotional but we made a promise to ourselves when we first started this podcast that would be nothing but honest to ourselves and you all. And we have continued this effort week after week. It is important to address the things that hurt you because holding in your feelings is not healthy for any party that is involved.
From me (Brandon), personally, I want to thank you so much for your support when I introduced Liz as my co-host 4 weeks into the season. She brings so much to this creative partnership and I could not see myself doing this with anyone but her.
From both of us, thank you to our amazing editors, Maddie and Jane. Thank you, Jane, for giving us a chance with this podcast, and thank you Maddie for doing all the insane editing requests we ask of you. You both are absolutely amazing! Thank you to the Triangle, The DMC, and Professor Alex Jenkins.
Thank you to all of our guests this term (Abbey Haas, Katherine Visco, Florette Press, Hana Graybill, Maddie Avareses, Ashley, Candice) even if you did not make it to air, your appearance on the show helped us craft our skill and direction more than you know.
Most importantly, thank you to our listeners. It means the world to us that you keep coming back every week. Y’all are the best homies. We will be back this winter in full force! We already have a few episodes planned to record over winter break. 2021 is where it’s at. See you then, and be ready to listen.
So for the last time this season:
“it’s your boy Brandon, and your girl Liz, and this is… ain’t that something.”
Liz and Brandon.

This past week, Mark and Jair discussed the NBA Draft as Anthony Edwards, James Wiseman, and Lamelo Ball were drafted 1-3 in categorical order.
A big question for the Warriors this upcoming season is the absence of Klay Thompson. Klay will miss his second season in a row, this time with a torn Achilles. Some questions to consider asking are who will be the second overall pick and if the Warriors have taken Lamelo Ball as second overall.
Mark has big opinions about the draft, especially when it comes to the Philadelphia Sixers and the trades they made. They unloaded Al Horford and Josh Richardson’s hefty contracts while obtaining Doc Rivers’ son in law, Seth Curry, and NBA champion Danny Reen.
In Major League Baseball, Robinson Cano has tested positive for the second time with PEDs. He is officially suspended for the 2021 season and the Mets will keep his $20 million for the season. They can take this opportunity to use it on a Free Agent.
In the NFL, a lot of questions are coming up concerning Antonio Brown and his recent situation. People are wondering if the Buccaneers are going to cut him but it seems as if the team is going to continue the season right now with Brown.
This past week, the New York Giants defeated the Philadelphia Eagles. Mark and Jair both feel that Jalen Hurts should potentially be the starting quarterback next season. The NFL is looking forward to an interesting weekend. It started with the Seattle Seahawks going up against the Arizona Cardinals.

We’re about to kick off Thanksgiving Break the right way- with a new podcast episode! We’re so thankful to you all for listening and sticking through all of the rambling and random thoughts, and we’ll be back for more throughout the year!
This episode starts with even more tea spillage about questions for the opposite sex. However, it would not be a Liz and Brandon episode if we didn’t talk about mental health. In this part, we get a little deeper, delving into the effects of gender stereotypes and how they affect our behaviors. (WARNING: some tears may have been shed).
Again, I want to put a disclaimer out there: all of our answers, opinions, and experiences are our own and don’t generalize to our genders.
As always, thank you so much for all the love and support! Shoot us a DM on IG @aintthat_something to give us your input on this episode or any suggestions for future episodes! Stay positive, everyone!
Brandon and Liz.
