On Saturday and Sunday, February 20th and 21st the Lave Event Center in Eugene, Oregon held the 2016 Oregon Asian Celebration. The event included authentic cuisine, live performances, cooking demonstrations, an animal petting zoo, arts and crafts displays, martial arts demonstrations and an Asian marketplace. The event was presented by the Eugene- Springfield Asian Council.

On Friday Feb. 12th and Saturday Feb. 13th KLCC hosted the 2016 Microbrew Festival at the Lane Event Center in Eugene, Oregon. The event included over 200 different beers from over 80 breweries throughout the nation and Canada. Connor Henzel with the Daily Emerald gives a first hand experience on what went on in the event.

Eugene, Oregon at the University of Oregon campus The Daily Emerald asked students what they knew about the popular play The Book of Mormon. The play is currently traveling throughout America and will be in Eugene from February 2nd through the 7th at the Hult Center.

On Saturday January 24th the Hong Kong Student Assoc. held the 2016 Hong Kong Night at the University of Oregon’s EMU Ballroom. Admission was free for all students and the event was open to the public. Authentic Japanese cuisine was provided for all quests who attended.

On Saturday, June 6, students with the University of Oregon held the 2015 Campus Block Party. The block party was hosted by the student groups Ethos and DuckTV from the School of Journalism and Communication. The party included food, games and live music, with a finale performance put on by Kitty Trap. Over 1,000 students attended the event throughout the day.

On June 4 the Students of the Indian Subcontinent student group held their annual Holi Fest at the University of Oregon campus. Holi Fest is an Indian ritual celebrating the coming of spring. This year over 200 people showed up to celebrate on the lawn at the Knight Library. The color powder used for the event was all organic and shipped directly from India.

The University of Oregon hosted the 2015 spring football game on May 2. Fans were let in for free if they brought three non-perishable food items to the game. A special video tribute was played at halftime for star quarterback Marcus Mariota who was in attendance. Attendance for the game was recorded at 35,808.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness month at the University of Oregon. The university and student groups hosted a number of events throughout the month culminating with the Take Back The Night rally and march on April 30. The rally started at the EMU amphitheater and finished in downtown Eugene at the Atrium Building.

On Monday April 6, Booklandia.tv launched as a new web channel completely devoted to books. In partnership with Powell’s Books and OR Media from the University of Oregon School Of Journalism and Communication, the site was built entirely with student-produced content. On Monday April 13, the Booklandia group will be hosting a launch event in front of The Duck Store and upstairs in the university book store, which will include prize giveaways.
