Important Tips for Choosing the Best Restaurant Booths

Selecting the right restaurant furniture is crucial for creating a comfortable and inviting atmosphere that keeps customers coming back. Among the most important pieces of furniture in any dining establishment are restaurant booths. Booths offer both functionality and aesthetic appeal, making them a staple in restaurants of all types. However, choosing the best restaurant booths involves more than just picking a style that looks good. Several factors must be considered to ensure that the booths you select meet the needs of your customers and complement your restaurant’s overall design.

In this blog, we will explore essential tips for selecting the best restaurant booths, focusing on key aspects such as material, design, size, durability, and comfort. Whether you are opening a new restaurant or refurbishing an existing one, this guide will help you make an informed decision.

Consider the Material of the Booths

The material of your restaurant booths plays a significant role in their durability, maintenance, and overall appearance. Common materials used in booth construction include wood, metal, and upholstery. Each material has its advantages and disadvantages, and the choice should align with the ambiance of your restaurant and the practical needs of your establishment.

Wood

Wooden booths offer a classic and warm appearance, making them a popular choice for traditional and upscale dining settings. They are available in various finishes, allowing you to match them with your restaurant’s interior design. However, wooden booths may require more maintenance, especially in high-traffic areas, as they are prone to scratches and wear.

Metal

Metal booths are known for their durability and modern aesthetic. They are an excellent choice for contemporary or industrial-themed restaurants. Metal booths are easy to clean and maintain, making them ideal for busy establishments. However, they can sometimes lack the warmth and comfort that customers expect in a dining environment.

Upholstery

Upholstered booths offer the highest level of comfort and are available in various fabrics, including vinyl, leather, and cloth. Upholstered booths can be customized to fit the color scheme and style of your restaurant. However, they may require more frequent cleaning and maintenance, particularly in family-oriented restaurants where spills and stains are common.

Evaluate the Design and Style

The design and style of your restaurant booths should reflect your brand and enhance the overall dining experience. Booths come in various styles, from classic to modern, and can be customized to fit the specific theme of your restaurant.

Traditional vs. Modern

Traditional booths typically feature high backs, plush seating, and intricate woodwork. They are ideal for restaurants with a cozy, intimate atmosphere. Modern booths, on the other hand, tend to have cleaner lines, minimalist designs, and are often made from metal or composite materials. Consider the overall theme of your restaurant when selecting the design of your booths to ensure consistency in your décor.

Customization Options

Many manufacturers offer customization options, allowing you to choose the color, fabric, and finish that best suits your restaurant. Customization ensures that your booths are unique and align with your restaurant’s branding. Whether you want to incorporate your restaurant’s logo into the design or choose a specific color palette, customized booths can enhance the dining experience for your customers.

Assess the Size and Layout

The size of your restaurant booths should be carefully considered to optimize seating capacity without compromising comfort. The layout of the booths should also complement the flow of your restaurant, making it easy for both staff and customers to move around.

Booth Dimensions

Standard booth dimensions typically include a seat height of 18 inches, a seat depth of 18-24 inches, and a back height of 36-48 inches. However, these dimensions can vary depending on the type of booth and the space available in your restaurant. Ensure that the booths you choose provide adequate seating space while allowing for comfortable dining.

Layout Considerations

The layout of your booths should facilitate an efficient flow of traffic in your restaurant. Consider placing booths along walls or in corners to maximize floor space. Additionally, ensure there is enough space between booths and other seating options to provide privacy for customers while allowing staff to move freely. A well-planned layout can enhance the overall dining experience and increase customer satisfaction.

Focus on Comfort

Comfort is a critical factor in customer satisfaction. Uncomfortable seating can lead to shorter dining experiences and decreased customer retention. Therefore, it’s essential to choose booths that provide a high level of comfort.

Cushioning and Support

The cushioning of the seats and the support provided by the backrests are key elements of comfort. Look for booths with high-density foam cushions that offer support without sagging over time. The backrests should be angled to provide proper lumbar support, ensuring that customers can sit comfortably for extended periods.

Seat Depth and Width

The depth and width of the seats should accommodate a variety of body types. Seats that are too narrow or too deep can be uncomfortable for some customers. Standard seat dimensions should work for most dining establishments, but consider offering a variety of booth sizes to cater to different customer preferences.

Balance Aesthetics and Functionality

While the aesthetic appeal of your restaurant booths is important, it should not come at the expense of functionality. The booths you choose should enhance the visual appeal of your restaurant while also being practical for everyday use.

Color and Finish

The color and finish of your booths should complement your restaurant’s interior design. Choose colors that align with your brand and create a cohesive look throughout the space. The finish of the booths, whether it’s a high-gloss lacquer or a matte finish, should also match the overall style of your restaurant.

Practical Features

Consider practical features such as storage compartments or easy-to-clean surfaces when selecting your booths. Some booths come with built-in storage beneath the seats, which can be useful in small restaurants where space is at a premium. Additionally, booths with removable seat cushions or covers make cleaning and maintenance more manageable.

Plan for Long-Term Use

When selecting restaurant booths, it’s important to think long-term. Investing in high-quality booths that will stand the test of time can save you money in the long run and reduce the need for frequent replacements.

Quality Construction

Look for booths that are constructed with quality materials and craftsmanship. Pay attention to details such as reinforced joints, heavy-duty hardware, and sturdy frames. High-quality construction ensures that the booths can withstand the rigors of daily use in a busy restaurant environment.

Warranty and Support

Choose booths that come with a warranty to protect your investment. A good warranty can provide peace of mind and cover any defects or issues that may arise. Additionally, consider the level of support offered by the manufacturer or supplier, as this can be valuable if you need replacement parts or repairs in the future.

Budget Considerations

Budget is always a factor when selecting restaurant furniture, and booths are no exception. While it’s important to invest in high-quality booths, it’s also essential to stay within your budget.

Cost vs. Value

When evaluating the cost of restaurant booths, consider the value they provide. High-quality booths may have a higher upfront cost, but they often offer better durability, comfort, and aesthetic appeal. In contrast, cheaper booths may save you money initially but could require more frequent repairs or replacements.

Financing Options

If your budget is tight, consider financing options that allow you to spread the cost of the booths over time. Some suppliers offer leasing or payment plans, making it easier to invest in quality furniture without straining your budget.

Conclusion

Shop for restaurant booths at restaurantfurnitureplus.com to find a wide selection of high-quality booths that meet the needs of any dining environment. Whether you’re looking for traditional, modern, or customized options, you can find the perfect booths to create a comfortable and inviting space for your customers.

Choosing the best restaurant booths is a critical decision that can significantly impact the success of your dining establishment. By considering factors such as material, design, size, durability, and comfort, you can select booths that enhance the overall dining experience and align with your restaurant’s brand. Remember to balance aesthetics with functionality and plan for long-term use to ensure that your investment pays off in the years to come.

CSU soccer grabs 1st win of season

Colorado State soccer beat Northern Colorado to grab its first win of the season.

The Rams won the game 3-0, going 1-1-1 to start the season. CSU struggled to find the net in the first half, having 14 shots but zero goals. The Rams poured it on with three goals in the second half.

Coming out of halftime, Mia Massey scored the first goal in the 62nd minute to get the party started. She was one of three Rams to score against the Bears. However, only one Ram was able to walk away with two assists. Kacie Laurie was able to bag herself a pair of assists in Greeley, Colorado.

Taite DeLange was the second Ram to get a goal, helping the Rams put a bit of cushion between them and the Bears making a win feel so much closer.

Maggie Altman had a wild first half with six shots to make up most of CSU’s attempts. However, she was not able to find the back of the net to get any go-ahead goals, so she went into the locker room with nothing to show for her hard work. She was able to score the dagger that took down the Bears in the 85th minute to put a bow on the Rams’ win.

“We knew what we had to get done in that first half and it all came down to the execution,” Altman said. “You know the last little bit and having the whole team supporting behind me. It’s like I just needed to find the back of the net. So it felt really good to do so.”

The Rams only allowed three shot attempts and two shots on goal to make it a defensive spectacle.

“Anytime you can play in an environment like this under the lights and you’re the away team, I think it just kind of gives you a little chip on your shoulder,” coach Keeley Hagen said. “It makes you want to fight even that much harder, right. Because you’re not the home team. So, it was definitely an enjoyable environment.”

After three games, the Rams have faced a variety of talent from the Big Sky to the Big 10. They’ve put in some hard work against some good opponents and have been able to walk away satisfied.

“We love to train harder than we play in season,” Liv Stutzman said. “So getting to play those Big 10 schools is awesome. So, just getting a new type of competition you feel that obviously the Mountain West is a very special type of competition as well.”

The Rams head into their fourth game against California Baptist  at 1 p.m. on Aug. 25 at the new CSU Soccer field, with a good handful of experience to lean back on to help them prevail.

Cats collide: UH women’s soccer falls to Sam Houston

Houston women’s soccer and the Sam Houston collided at the Carl Lewis International Complex Sunday evening in the Cougar’s first home game of the season. UH was looking to rebound after losing their first game of the season to the No.17 Texas.

Ultimately, Sam Houston went out on top as they won 3-1.

The Cougars started the first twenty minutes, strong.  In the 11th minute, sophomore forward Kyrsten Kizer assisted junior forward Cameryn Maddox in scoring Houston’s first goal of the season.

The Bearkats weren’t phased and got back in the game in the 29th minute thanks to a goal from freshman forward Gabrielle Williams to make it 1-1 heading into halftime.

In the second half, despite outshooting Sam Houston 14-4 and having five corners, Houston couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net, thanks in big part to Bearkat senior goalkeeper Cassia Souza, who had eight saves in the game.

Despite only having four shots in the second half, Sam Houston made them count.

In the 80th minute, the Cougars lost their composure. Bearkat senior forward Landri Townsend hit a lob shot that sailed into the net to give the Bearkats a 2- 1 lead.

A minute later, Sam Houston sophomore Jasmine Dybala scored off a Sam Houston corner kick to make it 3-1 and put the game to bed.

The Cougars will look to end their rough start to the season when they take on the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks at home on Aug. 22.

CSU athletics brings on Denver Broncos Hall of Famer Terrell Davis

Colorado State athletics is bringing in a very familiar face.

The Denver Broncos all-time leading rusher, former NFL MVP and Super Bowl XXXII MVP Terrell Davis will be joining CSU athletics as a Rambassador, according to a CSU SOURCE article.

Davis will serve in a capacity beyond athletics, including: speaking to classes, attending university events and working with donors and stakeholders, according to SOURCE.

“Great recognizes great, and grit recognizes grit,” Director of Athletics John Weber said in the same article. “TD is going to be around all our teams, and it is going to be a really fun year. CSU is a fantastic academic and research institution, and we have the foundation in athletics to compete at the highest levels. Having the support and involvement of TD will really help enhance and amplify all the great things happening here at CSU.”

Davis attended several CSU athletics events last year, including football and basketball games. The Broncos’ former back has truly embodied the Colorado spirit, with his iconic signature celebration The Mile High Salute bringing roars from football fans in Colorado for decades.

SOURCE also mentioned that Davis would also help with fundraising for CSU’s Name, Image and Likeness, as well as trying to bring more attention to specific sports.

“Colorado is my home, and over the years I’ve been looking for the right opportunity to give back to this state that has given me so much,” Davis said in the SOURCE article. “As I’ve come to understand the history and mission of CSU, I recognize a clear set of shared beliefs — this notion that you can change the world, improve your community and make a difference when you combine talent, creativity, hard work and determination. That resonates with me, and I’m honored to serve as CSU’s Athletics Rambassador.”

Davis brings a championship and MVP mindset to CSU athletics and beyond as it enters into a new era under Weber.

“Throughout Colorado, TD truly embodies what can be accomplished through excellence, grit, determination and giving back to the community,” CSU President Amy Parsons said in the SOURCE article. “Those same traits align with our values and mission here at CSU, which is why we’re excited to have TD join the Ramily and serve in a unique role that will inspire and engage the entire CSU community.”

UH strives to become a voter-friendly campus

Lily Huynh/The Cougar

In an effort to increase civic engagement and voter education, UH is seeking a designation from the Campus Vote Project to become a Voter-Friendly Campus.

The Voter-Friendly Campus program aims to help higher education institutions plan an achievable roadmap to meeting the voter registration requirements of the Higher Education Act of 1965.

The Center for Student Involvement has taken the initiative to coordinate action plans for the University and analyze its current civic engagement.

“We’re trying to enroll in The National Study of Learning, Voting and Engagement to track the percentage of students on campus who register and actually vote,” said CSI Associate Director Eric Smith.

While also serving as a metric of success, enrolling in NSLVE would provide the necessary data to potentially earn a silver seal from the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge, one of the goals UH hopes to accomplish.

During a midterm election, earning a silver seal translates to 30-39% of voter participation from students while a presidential election requires 60-69% of voter participation.

Upcoming action steps

UH’s main goals are to increase voter registration turnout and education, increase the use of the on-campus polling location and engage non-partisan community partners to increase civic engagement.

Grassroots organizing will play an important role in working toward these goals, especially with registered student organizations on campus that are already face-to-face with students.

The Student Government Association has several plans in the works to increase voter education and registration turnout including a debate watch party and a Middle Ground-inspired panel.

“There’s a lot of things that affect all of us as college students that we don’t realize tie back to politics,” said SGA Chief of Staff Daniela Gonzalez. “So I think it’s important to take advantage of the fact that you can vote and voice your opinion.”

SGA Director of External Affairs Khushvir Chahal is also planning to host an RSO competition where the student organization that registers the most students to vote can win free food for their second general meeting.

Alongside the work of SGA, Smith hopes to offer student leaders of RSOs the opportunity to become Volunteer Deputy Voter Registrars through the Harris County Clerk’s Office and host consistent voter registration drives on campus.

“The important thing is that your voice is heard,” said SGA President Diego Arriaga. “One vote can mean the difference between a lot of things.”

Last but not least, increasing the use of the on-campus polling location ensures that it can continue to be provided to students and cultivate a culture of civic engagement at UH.

How to vote and upcoming events

The last day to register to vote for the general election is Oct. 7 with early voting starting on Oct. 21 and ending on Nov. 1.

If registering for the first time, you must complete a voter registration application and mail it to your local county election office 30 days before the election date.

If you only need to change your name or address, it can be done online at Texas.gov.

An upcoming event for students to look forward to is the 2024 Texas Voting Summit on Sept. 13-14 at UH hosted by the Campus Vote Project alongside the Houston Youth Voters Conference, UH and Texas Southern University.

At this free event, college students, administrators and faculty can learn about nonpartisan efforts to increase voter participation at their campus.

Campus Vote Project is offering a free one-night stay at the UH Hilton Hotel on a first-come first-serve basis to attend this event.

The thrill lies in mastering this captivating card game while also reading your opponents like an open book. Dive into our ultimate guide that unpacks the history, rules, and essential strategies for conquering Bolatangkas and claiming victory!

Understanding Bolatangkas: A Brief History and Overview

Bolatangkas has its roots in Southeast Asia, where it has been enjoyed for generations. It combines elements of traditional card games with a unique twist that keeps players coming back for more.

Originally played in social gatherings, Bolatangkas fosters camaraderie and friendly competition. Its rise to popularity can be attributed to its engaging nature and strategic depth.

The game typically involves two or more players, each aiming to outsmart their opponents while managing their cards effectively. With a simple setup yet complex strategies, bolatangkas appeals to both casual gamers and seasoned veterans alike.

As you delve into the dynamics of this fascinating game, you’ll discover how cultural influences have shaped its evolution over time. The rich history adds an intriguing layer that enhances the overall experience while playing Bolatangkas today.

The Rules of Bolatangkas

Bolatangkas is a captivating card game that requires both skill and strategy. Understanding the rules is essential for anyone looking to excel.

The game typically involves two or more players using a standard deck of cards, where each player strives to form the best hand possible. Players are dealt an initial set of cards, which they can exchange based on their strategies.

In Bolatangkas, the ranking of hands follows traditional poker rules but with unique twists. The highest-ranking combination wins the round, so knowing your hands’ strength is crucial.

Players take turns betting or folding based on their confidence in their hand compared to others’. Bluffing adds another layer of intrigue; it can lead opponents astray while you hold a weaker hand.

Pay close attention during gameplay. The nuances of betting patterns offer insights into what your opponents might be holding.

Essential Strategies for Playing Bolatangkas

To excel in Bolatangkas, you need to adopt strategic thinking. Focus on understanding the flow of the game rather than just your own hand.

Evaluate each round carefully. Assess what cards are likely held by your opponents based on their actions and betting patterns. This insight can guide your decisions.

Another key strategy is to manage your bankroll wisely. Set limits for yourself before starting and stick to them rigorously. Knowing when to walk away can save you from chasing losses.

Moreover, don’t overlook the power of bluffing. A well-timed bluff can unsettle even seasoned players, but be cautious—overusing it may lead opponents to call your bluffs more readily.

Practice patience throughout gameplay. Rushing into decisions often leads to mistakes that could cost you dearly in this intricate card game.

C. Be Mindful of Your Opponents’ Moves

Understanding your opponents is a crucial aspect of mastering Bolatangkas. Each player has their own style and strategy, which can greatly influence the game’s outcome. Pay close attention to how they play: are they aggressive or more reserved? Do they take risks or play it safe?

By observing these patterns, you can anticipate their moves. This allows you to adjust your strategy accordingly, giving you an edge in the game. For example, if an opponent tends to bluff frequently, be ready to call them out when the situation arises.

Additionally, remember that communication plays a vital role in multiplayer formats. Reading body language and facial expressions can offer valuable insights into what others might be planning next. Make mental notes about how each player reacts under pressure; this knowledge will serve you well throughout your games.

While focusing on your own cards is important, don’t forget that awareness of other players’ strategies can elevate your gameplay significantly. Use this information not just defensively but also offensively by exploiting weaknesses when opportunities arise.

Bolatangkas isn’t just about luck; it’s also about psychology and tactics involving interpersonal dynamics at the table. Mastering these elements will enhance both enjoyment and success as you navigate through matches with confidence.

Looking for the best deals on used cars? The answer often lies in American car auctions online, where savvy buyers can find high-quality vehicles at a fraction of their market value. But with so many platforms to choose from, how do you pick the right one and avoid costly mistakes?

Choosing the right auction site is key to getting the best deals and ensuring a smooth purchase. In this article, we’ll explore the top American car auctions—Copart, Manheim, Carfast Express, IAAI, and eBay Motors—so you can make an informed decision and secure your next vehicle with confidence.

Copart: A Leader in Salvage and Used Car Auctions

  • Participation Fees: Requires a $59 membership fee for basic access. Premier Membership is available for $199, which increases your bidding limit.
  • Vehicles Available: Primarily offers salvage vehicles, including cars, trucks, SUVs, and motorcycles. These vehicles are often sold by insurance companies after accidents, floods, or other incidents. Used vehicles in drivable condition are also available.

  • Shipping: Does not directly provide shipping services but partners with transport companies for delivery. International buyers need to arrange export and customs clearance separately.

Manheim: The Go-To Auction for Dealers and Bulk Buyers

  • Participation Fees: Primarily serves licensed dealers. Individuals typically cannot participate unless through a broker. Dealers pay a subscription fee of around $99 per month, plus transaction fees that vary based on the vehicle price.
  • Vehicles Available: Offers a broad range of used vehicles, including cars, trucks, SUVs, and luxury vehicles. These vehicles are generally in better condition than those found on salvage sites, often coming from rental fleets, lease returns, or dealership trade-ins.
  • Sellers: Primarily car rental companies, leasing companies, banks, and large dealerships. The inventory is well-maintained with a wide selection of makes and models.
  • Shipping: Does not provide shipping directly but can assist with logistics through connections with transport companies. Buyers need to arrange vehicle pickup and delivery, domestically or internationally.
  • Ease of Winning Auctions: Challenging due to competition from professional dealers. Prices tend to be higher than other auctions, reflecting the better condition of the vehicles. For dealers, the streamlined process and quality inventory are worth the investment.

CarFast Express: Your Trusted Broker for All American Car Auctions

  • Participation Fees: The platform offers a highly accessible service with free registration, allowing users to browse vehicles without any initial costs. When it comes to bidding, there is a minimal auction fee, often as low as 1% of the final purchase price, making it one of the most cost-effective options available. For those seeking a fully managed service, there is a brokerage fee of $500 that covers the entire process from bidding to final delivery.
  • Vehicles Available: A leader in the American car auction market, offers a wide variety of vehicles, ranging from affordable everyday cars to high-end models. The platform is designed to cater to both individual buyers and dealers, with options that suit various needs and budgets.
  • Sellers: Vehicles are sourced from all major American car auctions, including Copart, Manheim, IAAI, and eBay Motors. This means that the inventory is incredibly diverse, featuring cars from insurance companies, rental agencies, dealerships, and private sellers. As an official broker, the platform has the capability to access and bid on vehicles across these auctions, giving buyers a broader selection.
  • Shipping: The service includes comprehensive shipping solutions. If you’re purchasing a car from the USA and need it delivered internationally, the platform will handle the entire process, managing logistics from the auction house to your preferred destination in countries like Nigeria, Ghana, Georgia, Poland, Romania, Moldova, and more.
  • Ease of Winning Auctions: It’s easier to win auctions due to the streamlined process and expert bidding strategies offered. The team of professionals ensures that you are well-represented in the auction, increasing your chances of securing the vehicle you want. Additionally, with lower competition and minimal fees, this platform is an ideal choice for buyers looking to win auctions without breaking the bank.

IAAI: The Auction House for Insurance and Totaled Vehicles

  • Participation Fees: $200 annual registration fee for international buyers; domestic buyers can register for $100. Additional fees range from $50 to several hundred dollars, depending on the vehicle price.
  • Vehicles Available: Specializes in totaled and salvage vehicles, mostly from insurance companies. These vehicles often require significant repairs but are sold at deep discounts, appealing to those looking to restore or part out vehicles.
  • Sellers: Primarily insurance companies, with some cars from rental agencies and financial institutions. The inventory is vast, but vehicle conditions vary widely.
  • Shipping: Does not handle shipping directly but partners with logistics companies to assist buyers with delivery. International buyers need to coordinate export logistics independently.
  • Ease of Winning Auctions: High chances of winning heavily damaged or less desirable vehicles. Competition can be fierce for cars in better condition or those with high resale potential.

eBay Motors: The Global Marketplace for All Types of Vehicles

  • Participation Fees: Listing fees for sellers; buyers can participate in auctions without any upfront cost. Final value fee for sellers is generally around 2.35% of the sale price.
  • Vehicles Available: Offers a wide range of vehicles, from brand-new cars to vintage models and everything in between. Cars are available in various conditions, including fully restored, lightly used, and project cars.
  • Sellers: Vehicles are sold by private individuals, dealerships, and occasionally by companies liquidating inventory. The variety of sellers contributes to a wide range of available vehicles.
  • Shipping: Typically the buyer’s responsibility, but many sellers offer shipping options or can assist in arranging delivery. International buyers need to manage the export process themselves, though guidance is available.
  • Ease of Winning Auctions: Varies greatly depending on the vehicle’s popularity. Highly desirable cars can attract numerous bids, driving up the price, while less sought-after models may sell with minimal competition. The “Buy It Now” feature allows buyers to skip the auction process and purchase vehicles at a fixed price.

Middle East Center Offers New Course on History of Israel and Palestine

Beginning in the Fall of 2024, the University of Utah’s College of Humanities will offer a four-credit course on the long history between Israel and Palestine. This course is one of several developments in the Middle East Center. It will offer students in-depth coverage on the history of Israel and Palestine from the 19th to the 21st century.

History of Israel and Palestine

Students in the History of Israel and Palestine course will be “assessing the histories of nationalisms, colonialisms, war and violence, alongside the histories of ideologies, necessity, peace and diplomacy,” according to promotional flyers for the course.

Dr. Annie Greene, assistant professor in the history department and course instructor, explained that this course is exactly what it is labeled as: a history course.

“This is a history class. For those students who want to talk about recent events, I’m going to have to refer them to my colleagues in political science,” Greene said.

Greene plans to spend the majority of the course discussing the 19th century and most of the 20th century.

“How the events back then shaped what is going on today will be the very last weeks of the course,” Greene said. “Which is to say, can we do a history of yesterday yet? Is that even history?”

Greene emphasized the importance of setting aside personal beliefs about the Israel/Palestine conflict and taking time to recognize that history is written from the present. She also encouraged wondering about what perspective historians view events they are writing about.

“We have to read all of the primary sources that are available and all of the secondary sources that are available, which means we might not like the opinions of the sources we are reading,” Greene said. “In order to be good historians, we are not going to be able to have the option to say, ‘I disagree, I don’t want to read this source.’”

Creating the Course

Greene also acknowledged the intense nature of the course content.

“We’re going to be discussing violence throughout the semester … I have a blanket content warning, and I want students to take that seriously,” she said.

Previously, the U has offered noncredit courses covering the Israel/Palestine conflict. This includes courses offered by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. However, the Fall 2024 semester is the first time that a course covering the conflict will be available for credit. There is also a noncredit section of this course available.

“All over the United States, large universities that have a Middle East Center offer a course on the history of Israel and Palestine,” Greene said.

According to Greene, prior to the events of Oct. 7, 2023 in which Hamas launched an attack on Israel and killed more than 1,200 Israelis, the Middle East Center had already been planning to implement a course covering the history between Israel and Palestine. This was in hopes to increase student interest in the humanities and the Middle East Center.

But, Greene also pointed out that inevitably, the events of Oct. 7, 2023, and the subsequent Israel-Hamas war increased student curiosity about the conflict.

“History is incredibly messy. I hope that I am able to answer as many questions as possible,” Greene said. “I also hope students leave this class with even more questions than before, which isn’t to say I hope to confuse them. But I hope that there’s an appreciation that adding more details and finding out new narratives and uncovering more voices means that we have even more questions than we even knew we could ask.”
