An Oakland resident was charged by the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office on Wednesday after his arrest for an alleged sexual assault.
According to a city of Berkeley press release, the suspect was identified through a DNA match from evidence collected after the assault occurred. The suspect was identified as a 23-year-old man.
The press release added that officers arrested the suspect Tuesday morning at his Oakland residence. The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office then charged the suspect Wednesday with the rape of an intoxicated person and rape of an unconscious person.
The arrest follows a sexual assault report of a woman in her 20s after meeting the suspect at a Southside restaurant bar.
