Former University Health Services physician pleads guilty to sexual misconduct

Dr. Jeff Nelson, a former University Health Services, or UHS, physician, pled guilty to criminal sexual misconduct charges involving a minor.
According to an email from UHS Assistant Vice Chancellor Guy Nicolette, the misconduct occurred off-campus and was unrelated to UHS services, and Nelson was placed on administrative leave when UHS became aware of the charges. Nicolette added that the minor was not a member of the UC Berkeley community.
“These changes are highly disturbing and are an affront to our values,” Nicolette said in the email. “As a University and a healthcare provider, our goals include advancing wellness, as we protect minors and the community we serve.”
A complaint to pursue professional discipline was also filed against Nelson by the Medical Board of the State of California.
