Cal football adds three-star defensive end Ethan Saunders to 2020 class
On and off the field, Cal football continues to push the right buttons while developing its future.
Minutes after the Bears wrapped up day two of the team’s annual fall camp, head coach Justin Wilcox and first year defensive line coach Andrew Browning scored the 18th recruit for Cal’s 2020 class — three-star defensive end Ethan Saunders out of Orange Vista High School in Perris, CA.
Saunders, the second defensive line commit headed to Berkeley next fall, is coached in high school by former Cal safety and NFL draftee Greg Zomalt. At 6’3” and 275 pounds, Saunders is a force to be reckoned with and offers the Bears much-needed size within its front seven. He also received offers from Oregon State, Boise State, Hawaii and New Mexico.
Browning, who joined Cal’s coaching staff this offseason, also landed the commitment of three-star defensive tackle Stanley McKenzie in June.
