– Oregon freshman Steven Kyker spent his summer competing in the World Triathlon Championships, all the while keeping a bet between him and a fellow competitor. Kyker would finish 16th in his age group despite not having a coach and only training for a short amount of time compared to the rest of the field.
– Royce Freeman became Oregon’s first 100-yard rusher this season after carrying the ball 18 times for a career-high 121 yards and two touchdowns in the Ducks’ 42-30 win. His performance also had a bigger meaning to it as the Imperial, California native had dozens of family and friends in the crowd Saturday garnering shirts that read ‘Freeman’ across the front of them.
– Oregon women’s soccer lost 2-1 to Colorado, Sunday, being on the wrong side of a two-goal comeback from the Buffaloes. On the same day however, the Oregon club men’s soccer team defeated Western Oregon 5-0 with one of its main contributors being Zach Donner.
– Oregon volleyball fell to rival No. 3 Washington 3-1 (25-21, 17-25, 20-25, 16-25) in a match where the Ducks were “outplayed” by a “better” team, according to its head coach Jim Moore.
– Oregon football jumped into the top 10 again this week after its decisive win over UCLA. The Ducks now sit at No. 9 in the AP poll. In addition, Mississippi State jumped Florida St. and now has positioned itself as the No. 1 team in the country following its 38-23 win over then No. 2 Auburn.
