For the first time on the University of Oregon campus, the Native American Flagpole Project took place at the Erb Memorial Union on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014.
The event was organized by the Lundquist College of Business as part of the “Big Idea Challenge,” which aims to enhance cultural presence on campus. The flags that went up today recognize the nine federal tribes in the state of Oregon and serves as a tribute to the culture.
Business worked with ASUO, the UO President’s office and UO Many Nations Longhouse to plan the event. The event was attended by UO students, the Oregon tribal Chairman and Elders. They aim to make this an annual event.
