NEW YORK — Austin Hollins last shot in a Gophers uniform was a beauty.
With the game tied at 59-59 and less than 50 seconds left in the game, Hollins rose up from beyond the three-point line and buried a triple to give his team a lead it wouldn’t relinquish as the Gophers topped Southern Methodist 65-63 to take home the NIT championship.
Not a bad way to go out.
“It was a big-time shot,” head coach Richard Pitino said. “That’s the way he should have walked away as a Gopher.”
