Former Gophers QB headed to Rutgers

Former Gophers quarterback Philip Nelson will enroll at Rutgers and will continue his collegiate career with the Scarlett Knights, according to multiple reports Wednesday. 

Nelson left the Minnesota football program earlier this month, citing he wanted to play in an offense that emphasized the passing attack more. 

Rutgers ranked 62nd in the NCAA with 235.6 passing yards per game last season. Minnesota sat 115th with a measly 148.1 passing yards per game.
