Take A Knee: Brian Jackson

After wrapping up practice on Tuesday, Jackson talked about how fall camp has gone so far and what he’s most looking forward to entering his final season as a Duck.

“We are looking pretty good, especially after a great practice today — offense and defense were really battling out there,” Jackson said. “It was fun to just get out there and run around, make plays and hit people.”

Jackson touched on how the wide receivers are a group who have looked especially good during fall camp. In Jackson’s eyes senior Daryle Hawkins and juniors Keanon Lowe and Eric Dungy have been particularly impressive, growing everyday in practice and getting better.

“I pretty much go against Daryle every day and with me competing against him, we’ve both gotten the better part of each throughout camp,” Jackson said. “I can’t wait to see how he translates that to the field. Same goes for  Keanon, also.”

“You have guys who are expected to come out and perform everyday, but these guys (Hawkins, Lowe and Dungy) have been able to transform themselves into even better football players,” Jackson said. “Because I go against them everyday, it’s made me a lot better and done the same for them by going against me.”

Jackson was next questioned about the linebackers and whether or not they will be able to have the same success and their predecessors Michael Clay, Kiko Alonso, Dion Jordan and Casey Matthews.

“I know we got some new guys, but they’re out there and I think they’re ready to play,” Jackson said. “Just because they’re new doesn’t mean that they’re not good — that changes a lot of people’s perspectives because they believe that since something is new means it’s not good.”

When asked about what his senior year expectations are, Jackson didn’t hesitate and responded with something very familiar to Oregon fans.

“I just want to take it one day at a time and get better every day,” Jackson said. “If we win every day then things will fall into place.”
