New York Yankee fans were happy to see short stop Derek Jeter return to action Thursday afternoon in a game against the Kansas City Royals. Jeter has been sidelined for all 91 games of the season due to a fractured foot he suffered October 12 of last year.
The return to today’s game was a surprise as the Yankees originally planned to ease the 39-year-old veteran back into the lineup by giving him some time in the minors. Jeter batted as the team’s designated hitter, helping the Yankees win hitting 1-4 with a run in is debut.
