Level one bookstacks closed after vandalism at Doheny Library

An individual shoved books off of the shelves and damaged several books. The level contains primarily East Asian literature.

An individual damaged several books on the first level of bookstacks at Doheny Memorial Library earlier this week, Department of Public Safety Assistant Chief David Carlisle confirmed to the Daily Trojan Friday evening.

The level, which primarily contains East Asian literature, is temporarily closed for maintenance according to the USC Libraries website.

DPS and the Los Angeles Police Department have detained a person of interest who appears unaffiliated with the University. The investigation is ongoing.

According to Carlisle, the individual shoved several rows of books off of the shelves. The incident was first discovered April 7 at 7:45 p.m., according to Carlisle.
