Here’s what members of the Republican Party of Lane County are saying and doing at its watch party: 

The Republican Party of Lane County is holding a watch party at a retail space in north Eugene tonight from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

As of 9:22 p.m.

Monique DeSpain, the republican candidate for the US House of Representatives, spoke at the event at 9 p.m. Attendees gave a standing ovation as she took the stage. 

“We’ve worked together unified,” DeSpain said. “And I am so honored you chose me to represent you… this bold, clear voice for you and many others that have been voiceless and unheard for too long.”

As of 8:55 p.m. 

RPLC began the night with a prayer led by John Large, the chairperson of the Lane County Republicans. 

“I pray that you cleanse our nation from the evil that has snuck into that door, heal those lives that we are sacrificing every day,” Large said. 

Large asked that attendees join hands during the prayer, to be “united not only in spirit, but united in flesh as well.” 

“I pray whatever we do and whatever happens tonight that the faith in our nation will remain in you. Oh lord, because you are the healer, the keeper and the  faith of our nation and whatever happens lord, we know that you are still in charge and still on the throne,” Large said.

The Democratic Party of Lane County is holding its customary election day watch party at Whirled Pies Pizza downtown Eugene from 7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Candidates from across Lane County are expected to gather in anticipation of the first election results that are scheduled for 8 p.m., while paying close attention to national election results.

There are approximately 200 people gathered inside Whirled Pies waiting for the first results to come in for the state of Oregon. 

Attendees are dancing, listening to music and talking.
