Former Cal cornerback Camryn Bynum drafted by Minnesota Vikings

With the 125th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings selected decorated Cal alum Camryn Bynum. Bynum was a standout cornerback in his four seasons with the Bears, and capped off his collegiate career with a first-team All-Pac-12 nod from the conference’s coaches.
The former Cal corner was particularly valuable because he brought not only talent but also great durability and leadership to the team. He was the only Bear to start all 42 games from 2017 through 2020, and served as a captain during his last two seasons with the team.
The Vikings — who finished the 2020-21 NFL season with a decent 7-9 record — are hopeful that the former Bear will strengthen their depleted secondary unit. And, with the tenacity that Bynum displayed en route to becoming the fourth-most-prolific pass deflector in Cal history, there’s no doubt that he has the ability to do so.
