Cal football outside linebacker Chinedu Udeogu to miss remainder of season

In a Monday afternoon post-practice press conference, Cal football head coach Justin Wilcox announced that defensive end/outside linebacker Chinedu Udeogu will miss the remainder of the season with a lower body injury.

The 6’ 4” redshirt junior appeared in Cal’s first two games this season, making one tackle against UC Davis in limited action. He has played in 27 career games for the Bears, compiling 20 total tackles, 10 of which were solo.

Despite only appearing in two games this season, Udeogu was expected to see an increased role after a slew of injuries hit the outside linebackers group. Cameron Goode, Tevin Paul and Ben Hawk Schrider were all held out of the Ole Miss game, and Udeogu could have been in line for significant future snaps if healthy.

Wilcox stated that the team hopes to have Udeogu back in time for spring. In the meantime, Cal’s depth at outside linebacker will be an important factor to watch this Friday against Arizona State.
