Berkeley police seeking man suspected of burglary, sexual assault

Berkeley Police Department is looking for a male suspect, sought for breaking into a Blake Street residence, stealing property and sexually assaulting a female resident, according a Nixle alert released Sunday afternoon.

According to the alert, the suspect is sought on charges of burglary and sexual assault. He allegedly broke into a home on the 2400 block of Blake Street early Sunday morning.

The alert describes the suspect as a black male adult between 20 and 30 years old, who is clean shaven with a square face. He is reportedly about 5’6” tall, of medium build and has balding or short hair. The suspect was wearing a striped, orange polo shirt.

BPD is seeking help from the community to identify anyone who may fit this description. Community members with relevant information should contact BPD’s Special Victim’s Unit at (510) 981-5716.
