Berkeley police detain individual after vehicle rollover occurs on Martin Luther King Jr. Way

Berkeley Police Department detained an individual after a vehicle rollover occurred on Martin Luther King Jr. Way on Friday, according to BPD Lt. Peter Hong.
Hong said a solo vehicle collision took place about 5:45 p.m. Friday, when a car collided with an unoccupied parked vehicle on MLK Jr. Way, in between Bancroft and Allston ways. The driver was treated and did not sustain any significant injuries that would require hospital transportation. But when officers continued with their investigation, Hong said, they suspected that the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol.
“He’s (been) detained, and (officers are) doing an investigation of possible driving under the influence,” Hong said.
According to Brian Harryman, the on-duty battalion chief for Berkeley Fire Department, the car flipped over on its roof. He added that MLK Jr. Way is closed to traffic at the moment until BPD can have the vehicle towed out of the area.
