National Weather Service issues red flag warning for East Bay Hills

The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning and an urgent fire weather message for the East Bay Hills on Friday night, with “very dry and warm conditions” in the East Bay Hills expected through Friday evening and “hot and dry conditions” to continue in the hills Saturday.
A red flag warning, according to the NWS, is a precautionary message that indicates an area currently or will shortly display “critical fire weather conditions” due to a combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures.
The NWS red flag warning notes that any fires that develop will “likely spread rapidly,” and recommends that residents refrain from outdoor burning.
