After Eileen May heard The Daily Show chose her venue as its remote location for coverage of the Democratic National Convention, her first call was to her mentor, Kathleen Spehar.
May and Spehar met each other while they were both at the University of Minnesota more than decade ago. Spehar was an adjunct professor, and May, a young theatre student.
“The long story long of it is that when The Daily Show called me a year ago, I called [Spehar] immediately,” May said.
