Viet Nguyen ’17 will be the next president of the Undergraduate Council of Students, said Ryan Bahar ’18, co-chair of the UCS Elections Board, in an announcement Thursday night on the steps of the Faunce Campus Center. Nguyen received 59.8 percent of the vote to defeat UCS Campus Life committee chair Kevin Garcia ’18, with 31.9 percent of the vote, and Zachary Nelkin ’17, with 6.0 percent of the vote. Timothy Ittner ’18, who ran uncontested, will serve as vice president.
“I’m still processing this,” Nguyen said. “I think this was a team effort. I’m so proud of my campaign team and the community, and I look forward to working with the community going forward. I’m really looking forward to next year, he added.
Ittner expressed similar sentiments. “I’m really thrilled. I’m excited to move forward next year continuing working as a member of UCS as vice president and to continue to work with other student groups and amplify their voices,” he said.
