Students line up in front of the starting line of the 2014 UO Undie Run presented by Emerald Media Group and the Duck Store.
Emerald Media Group and the Duck Store hosted the first official Undie Run on campus last Thursday. Over 800 garments were donated to the Eugene Relief Nursery which provides low-income families child care, an open closet and a food pantry. Runners arrived in clothes they stripped to donate.
450 students attended the 1-mile run which began at Memorial Quad and looped through campus ending at Gerlinger Lawn. Vendors and a DJ lined the lawn after the race providing free food, a photobooth, and live music.
We are pleased with the turnout of students who came out and gave back to a local charity and we view the event’s first year as a success! Students from all walks of life came out for the cause and to let out some pre-finals stress. The Undie Run provided an environment where every type of person could be comfortable in their underwear surrounded by people equally as exposed.
We are excited to improve the event for next year and welcome any feedback from those who attended or volunteered. Please email Jessica Landre at jlandre@dailyemerald.com with any questions or comments about the 2014 Undie Run.
