Oregon women’s golf faced tough weather and tough competition at the Pac-12 championship held at the par-72 Trysting Tree Golf Course in Corvallis, Oregon this weekend, and the Ducks struggled to an eighth place finish.
As heavy rain poured down on the Willamette Valley throughout the weekend, Oregon was tasked with facing six of the nation’s top 15 teams. The Ducks shot 897 (33-over) overall but couldn’t keep up with the difficult pace set at the top of the conference.
No. 9 Stanford won the tournament, shooting 869 (5-over), No. 11 Arizona and No. 1 USC tied for second at 870 (6-over) and No. 2 UCLA carded an 871 (7-over) to finish fourth. Those four schools performed significantly better than the rest of the field as No. 6 Arizona State and No. 8 Washington shot 883 (19-over) and 884 (20-over) respectively for sixth and seventh place finishes.
Oregon’s Cassy Isagawa shot a team best 224 (8-over) while Caroline Inglis and Raphaela Dyer both shot 225 (9-over) to round out the scorecard.
UCLA’s Alison Lee, the nation’s top ranked collegiate golfer, outpaced Arizona’s Lindsey Weaver to win the individual title. Lee shot 211 (5-under) overall, scoring 3-under in the final round to climb from fourth place to first.
After the disappointing finish at the Pac-12 championship, Oregon will have to wait and see if their overall record is compelling enough to be selected for the NCAA Regionals. The championship selection show will air on Monday at 4 p.m. PST on the Golf Channel.
