Don’t forget to do these 5 things this week

We know how hard it is to remember to do school-related things when just a few weeks ago we weren’t even required to remember what day it was. So for those of you still mistakenly writing the date as 2013, hopefully the following back-to-school reminders will be helpful:

Renew your bus pass.

If you already have an AC Transit sticker that hasn’t been rubbed off to the point of illegibility, then you’ll have noticed the last day of valid bus travel is Jan. 28. New stickers for spring are now available outside of the Cesar Chavez Center, so get down there now to avoid awkward “your bus pass has expired” conversations in the future. Do prepare to queue for a few minutes though!

Renew your RSF membership.

Exercising By A Wall

As of Monday, RSF memberships for fall have expired. If one of your resolutions for the new year was to exercise more, renew your membership now! (Or don’t. We all know that hard-earned time could possibly be better spent watching Netflix.)

Buy the rest of your books.

It’s time to accept that school has actually started, and thus a significant proportion of your bank balance is about to go toward an obscene number of obscenely priced books. Either brave the never-ending line at the student bookstore or order them online — but classes have started, so don’t avoid buying books any longer!

Join a new club.

Fall isn’t the only time for joining new clubs. If you’ve been meaning to join a society or organization, now is the best time to seize that opportunity. Brave the whirlwind of fliers, and get involved in something new.

Remember drop deadlines.

If you’re still playing around with your schedules, don’t forget to take note of the deadlines for dropping or adding classes. Jan. 31 is the last day to drop a class (including early drop deadline courses), and Feb. 7 is the last day to add a class without a fee. After this date, it costs $10 to drop and $5 to add, so don’t waste valuable lunch money on forgetfulness!
