Matt Ehrlich asks students about winter holidays.
Do you know:
How do you spell Chanukah or Hannukah?
What country did Santa Claus originate from?
What continent is the North Pole on?
What day is Chinese New Year this year?
Answers:
The spelling of Chanukah or Hannukah actually can go either way. Translating the proper spelling of a Hebrew word into English can be tricky, so both ways of spelling Chanukah or Hannukah are widely accepted.
St. Nicholas originated from the village of Patara, Greece, which now is on the southern coast of Turkey.
The North Pole is not on a continent. It is in the Arctic Ocean under a sheet of ice.
The Chinese New Year is on January 31, 2014.
