Gophers scrape past Indiana with 42-39 win

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Minnesota dominated most of the game, but needed to force a late turnover to escape with a 42-39 win over Indiana on Saturday afternoon. 

The Gophers scored on their first drive of the game for the first time of the year, highlighted by a 40-yard Philip Nelson to Derrick Engel pass. They didn’t stop there, jumping out to a 35-13 lead in the third quarter.

A sloppy fourth quarter eventually caught up with Minnesota, but a timely touchdown pass and a key fumble recovery helped it to hang on.
