The good, the bad, the ugly: A rainy day at Autzen, De’Anthony injury status unknown

The Ducks were able to jump out to an early lead in the first quarter and never looked back en route to a 55-16 victory. Byron Marshall particularly played well in an expanded role, accumulating 130 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Last game marked the first time in school history that the Ducks scored more than 50 points in four consecutive games.
  • It rained during Saturday’s football game. It rained so much that no sane person should have been standing outside for any length of time. And yet despite what common sense would dictate, a handful of students stayed to cheer on the Ducks. Every Oregon fan that stayed to the end, even those who could only last until halftime, should be commended.
  • After tying a conference-record with two touchdown returns for 142 yards against California this past weekend, Oregon’s Bralon Addison was named as one of the Pac-12 Players of the Week alongside Oregon State’s Sean Mannion and Arizona State’s Alden Darby. Oregon is currently ranked third in the nation in punt return average at 24.78 yards per game.

Bad:

  • Oregon volleyball just couldn’t find enough points to upset No. 2 Washington Friday night, falling in four sets to the Huskies in front of the third largest crowd in Oregon volleyball history. It was Washington’s defense that proved too much for the Ducks, despite the strong play of Liz Brenner, who led the team with 23 kills. With the loss, Oregon is now 8-4 on the season and 1-1 in Pac-12 play.

Ugly:

  • De’Anthony Thomas was injured during the football game against California. On the opening kick return for the Ducks Thomas hurt his ankle while trying to make a cut. As he left the field he fell to the ground in pain. He would not return for the remainder of play, and he came out after halftime on crutches. His status for the Colorado game is in question.
  • Lane Kiffin’s time as the head coach of the USC football team is over. After giving up 42 points in the second half and losing to Arizona State 62-41, USC athletic director Pat Haden informed Kiffin of his termination upon the team’s arrival back home. Grumblings for his termination began last season when the Trojans fell from their No. 1 preseason ranking. Kiffin leaves USC with a four-year record of 28-15. Kiffin was fired at the airport in Los Angeles when the team arrived back from their game in Tempe.
