On Wednesday, BuzzFeed posted an article on why it’s finally Oregon’s year in college football.

The article provides a gamut of reasons to support their position, some leaning toward the performance of the players and some toward the marketing and entertainment behind the program.

Notable performance claims involve the transition to Mark Helfrich as the Ducks head coach, junior running back De’Anthony Thomas who “should scare every single one of their opponents,” and, with a tidbit of history, the Ducks’ “oh so close” moments.

Some of the article’s points are more comedic and geared toward the programs presentation rather than performance. They allege that the UO team’s helmet’s can now officially blind opponents and that a “source in Eugene” informed them that a “dope new camouflage”  is in the works for the upcoming Stanford game. The “new” camouflage being to wear the same uniform more than once, which most who follow college football know isn’t a common practice for the Ducks.

Moreover, they suggest Oregon’s cheer team, avoiding direct context while adding a positive connotation, succeeds in being “the most distracting.”

BuzzFeed warns that any team playing at Autzen can expect to lose. Autzen isn’t the biggest college stadium in the country, but BuzzFeed asserts it is by far the loudest.

Since their July 31 post regarding the Hatfield-Dowlin complex, BuzzFeed has been engaging in Duck related conversation.

The article micro-inspects many overlooked elements of the complex, making claims that the new complex “looks like a fortress of death,” and a button in Helfrich’s office will shade the windows.

In another post dated Aug. 27, BuzzFeed culminated 25 plays to get you pumped for college football. Oregon was featured as number three based off of their AP ranking and was accompanied by De’Anthony Thomas’ infamous kickoff return in the first 12 seconds of the Fiesta Bowl against Kansas State last season.

BuzzFeed’s interest continues to boost Oregon’s recognition as a national brand.
