CU quarterback Nick Hirschman announces departure

University of Colorado’s junior quarterback Nick Hirschman announced via Twitter Friday that he will be leaving Colorado football.

Hirschman’s decision gives junior quarterback Connor Wood a good shot at the starting position for the fall season.

Both Wood and Hirschman started in the Spring Game last Saturday. Head Coach Mike MacIntyre was quoted as saying that they had no plans of picking a starting quarterback until late August.

MacIntyre also recruited a quarterback from Tacoma, Wash., Sefo Liufau.

With Hirschman’s transfer, the battle for the starting quarterback position will be between Wood and Liufau and freshman Shane Dillon.
