Zone Read AM: Lacrosse no longer winless in conference play, Kobe Bryant steals the show in win over the Blazers

The women’s lacrosse team picked up their first conference win yesterday, beating the Fresno State Bulldogs 18-8.

The Ducks were predicted to be No. 2 in the MPSF pre-season coaches poll, but struggled early in their conference schedule, losing to San Diego State, USC, and Cal.

The win against the Bulldogs brought Oregon’s record to 6-7 overall and 1-3 in conference. Junior Shannon Propst, who leads the teams in goals and assists, has commanded the Ducks on offense this season.

Last night at the Rose Garden the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Portland Trailblazers 113-106.

The Oregonian’s Joe Freeman reports that it was veteran Kobe Bryant who stole the show from rookie standout Damien Lillard.

Lillard had scored a career-high 38 points with nine assists and three steals. But, it was Bryant who proved age is only a number when he posted 47 points, eight rebounds, five assists, four blocks and three steals.
