A request to move Jerry Sandusky’s trial to July has been denied.
Senior Judge John Cleland denied Attorney Joe Amendola’s request to postpone the former Penn State assistant football coach’s May 14 trial until mid-July 2012.
Cleland granted Sandusky’s attorney’s request for an extension of time to file omnibus pretrial motions. Amendola will have until March 22, rather than March 1, to file additional motions, according to court documents.
The Commonwealth must then reply to the omnibus pretrial motions filed by Sandusky’s defense team by March 29, according to court documents.
According to Cleland’s order, any hearing or argument required to resolve any omnibus pretrial motions shall be held April 5.
Sandusky is charged with 52 counts of sexually abusing boys he met through The Second Mile. He has maintained his innocence and is awaiting trial.
