Penn State Nittany Lion mascot permanently dismissed

By Kathleen Loughran

Nittany Lion mascot Clint Gyory has been permanently released from his duties as mascot, according to a statement from the Penn State Athletic Department.

In the statement, Penn State Cheerleading Coach Curtis White confirmed the dismissal, which he said was because Gyory violated a team rule.

Gyory was previously suspended by the Penn State Athletic Department for a month as a result of a citation for public drunkenness and criminal mischief on Aug. 1.

Paternoville President Alex Cohen said it is not his group’s business who fills the position as the mascot. But he said he wishes both Gyory and the current mascot luck in the future.
