U. Central Florida police are currently investigating a suspicious death near Millican Hall.
According to Grant Heston, assistant vice president of UCF News & Information, a man was found dead inside a silver BMW 3 Series sedan.
A release from Sgt. Troy Williamson of the UCF Police Department identified the man as 41-year-old Troy Steven Smith of Apopka.
A passerby called police at 2:50 p.m. after seeing the man slumped over in the car thinking he had passed out from heat exhaustion.
Authorities broke the rear windshield to gain access to the car and quickly realized the man had been dead for some time.
A handgun was found inside the car that had been parked in the reserved parking lot close to Millican Hall.
According to Heston, the man is not a UCF student, staff member or faculty member.
According to a medical examiner’s report, even though a .380 caliber gun was found, there was no gunshot wound. There was also blood on the body.
The death is still being classified as suspicious.
