Edith Parker will become the new head of the community and behavioral health department, in the University of Iowa College of Public Health, effective July 30, according to a news release.

Parker is an associate professor of health behavior and health education at the University of Michigan School of Public Health, where she is also the associate dean for academic affairs. She has done research with women’s and children’s health, environmental justice, and environment risk communication, and has published more than 50 peer-reviewed articles and chapters, according to the release.

She will replace interim department head Professor Linda Snetselaar.
