After a standoff with the Norman Police Department late Thursday evening, an unidentified man was found dead in his hotel room at the Best Western on Classen Boulevard, a Norman police spokesman said.

The body of an unidentified woman was found in the passenger seat of the man’s car, sitting in the motel’s parking lot, said spokesman Tom Easley.

Easley said following repeated efforts by Norman police SWAT, Norman Fire Department and EMSTAT to speak with the suspect, a single gunshot came from the room.

Upon entering, police found a black male in his thirties suffering from a gunshot wound. EMSTAT pronounced the man was deceased, Easley said.

Detectives are withholding the identities of the two deceased persons pending positive identification.
