What others are saying...

Jeremy Barnett, A&L editor for the FSView

When given the chance to be an Assistant Arts & Life Editor, Zach didn’t just do his job well – he revolutionized the newspaper. With no financial incentive and boss telling him to do so, Zach recognized the FSView needed to get with the times and move past being a printed periodical. So what did he do? He got on the phone, did some research and single-handedly turned the FSView from a twice-weekly printed paper into a hybrid source of media. Before Zach Cannon, there was no FSView Blog, no celebrity podcasts, no Web exclusive content and no Web Editor. The position of Web Editor was created for him after he redesigned our Web site and new responsibilities to keep it running surfaced. Zach also went beyond his normal A&L and Web duties and was always there to help out other sections. When a plane crashed one night in the middle of a crowded intersection in Tallahassee, it wasn’t the News section on the story and ready to upload it as breaking news. Zach did the research, stayed with the leads and broke the story to the FSU population late at night and all on his own. Without Zach, the FSView would not be close to what it is today.

Richard Snyder, former assistant editor for the FSView

Mr. Cannon represents the apex of the FSView's esteemed entertainment section, taking the best of his predecessors and taking it even farther than they did with witty articles which lack the gross, inflated self-importance and frivolity that many entertainment writers suffer from. Plus his dedication to his work is second to none.

Justin de la Cruz, former A&L editor for the FSView

Zach set himself apart from other writers by taking a genuine interest in the publication and his own work. I remember him asking a lot of questions about how the newspaper worked, suggesting his own ideas for articles and coverage and going the extra mile by setting up his own interviews and seeking out the proper materials to use in his articles. He is a well-rounded writer, a great journalist and, more importantly, an enthusiastic and involved contributor.

One week from today, Lost will go off the air. Don't worry, it will come back but, for six weeks, the show will go on hiatus to film five new episodes that couldn't be completed before the Writers Guild of America strike.

Back in 1978, American Hot Wax and The Buddy Holly Story came out, and, at least according to boxofficemojo.com, the musical biopic was born.

But, more importantly, it's Giamatti's everyday-guy believability that makes him so wonderful to watch. Even when he's shouldering the weight of the baby nation, Giamatti plays Adams with such wisdom, determination and candor, it's impossible not to like him...
