Dan Kaslow
His interactive debate show attracted an audience – and a presidential candidate
What others are saying...
Spencer Weinkle, colleague at UMTV
Dan was co-executive producer of “We the Students,” a show that featured political debates between students from institutions of higher education. Students from across the world could log in and participate in a chat room to further debate as the program is being streamed live. One episode even featured former Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich as a moderator.
In his role, Dan oversaw all aspects of the show including all content and production aspects. He helped spearhead all of the program’s interactivity to create a ground-breaking program and an achievement in new media journalism.
Steven Yavner, director of UMTV
Dan has been one of the pioneering executive producers of the interactive debate show, "We the Students." He has coordinated all of the production and technical issues for the show, as well as providing editorial direction, travel coordination and grant coordination. He personally secured a grant from the Adrien Arsht Foundation in coordination with the University of Miami Ethics program to fund the show. It has required an enormous amount of effort and energy to get it going, and an equally herculean effort to keep up the coordination to maintain it.
